a coworker brought this in and now it's all I drink
I didn't even know what Sumatra Mandheling was until a coworker brought some in. One cup and I was hooked. There's this deep, woodsy, chocolate richness to it that I'd never experienced in grocery store coffee. I ordered my own bag that same evening. I've since moved on to the 5 lb bag because the 12 oz doesn't last long enough.

Excellent coffee
Flavor is fantastic — full-bodied, earthy, deeply satisfying. My only mild gripe is that the grind options could be more clearly labeled on the product page; I almost ordered pre-ground by accident and I prefer to grind fresh. Once I sorted that out and got the whole beans, I was very happy. Would definitely recommend to any serious home brewer.

Espresso shots that actually taste like something
I run my shots through a semi-automatic espresso machine and this Sumatra pulls beautifully. The medium-dark roast hits the extraction window perfectly — rich crema, bold flavor, no astringency. Makes a genuinely outstanding Americano too. You could pay three times as much at a specialty roaster for a similar result. I won't.
