Indian Love Tea – Native American Tea Company

Taste the Tradition. Share the Love.

A comforting, caffeine‑free herbal infusion inspired by Indigenous wisdom and handcrafted in small batches since 1987. One sip invites warm conversation, gentle digestion, and a touch of romantic folklore—perfect for winding down together after a long day.

Heritage in Every Cup

Born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Indian Love Tea honors the legacy of our founder, WWII Lakota code talker Clarence Wolf Guts. His mission: celebrate Native plants, support Native-owned businesses, and bring people together over wholesome tea.  The Native American Tea Company was sheppard for many years by our Chairman Emeritus, Tom Aman.

Today, President Jordan Sutherland and Vice President Hunter "Woody" Wood —both proud Cherokee's—oversee day‑to‑day operations. Their hands‑on approach, from selecting herbs to hand‑packing each box, ensures there’s genuine love in every cup you brew.

Overseeing the broader mission is William C. McClure, Chairman of the Board and proud descendant and citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, whose stewardship keeps our multi‑tribal heritage and community give‑back programs at the heart of every decision.

We continue that promise—sourcing responsibly, blending by hand, and giving back to tribal communities.

How to Brew the Perfect Cup (or Two)

Hot Love Tea

  1. Measure: 1 sachet (or 1 heaping tsp loose) per 8 oz water. For a shared pot, use 2 sachets for 16 oz.

  2. Heat: Bring fresh water to a rolling boil (212 °F / 100 °C).

  3. Steep: Pour over tea, cover, and let steep 6–8 minutes. Longer ≈ bolder.

  4. Share: Remove sachet, divide into two mugs, sweeten to taste, and toast to togetherness.

Iced “Love Potion”

  1. Double the tea (2 sachets per 8 oz).

  2. Steep 8 minutes, sweeten lightly while hot.

  3. Pour over ice and top with a splash of berry purée or sparkling water.

  4. Garnish with fresh mint & share with a straw.

Ritual Tip: Set aside devices, light a candle, and read the included Love Note while sipping.

Indian Love Tea
Share It With Someone You Love

In the Indian culture, when a young man fell in love with a woman, he went through certain procedures. First, he would go to her father with gifts, as was the traditional way. If the father approved of the young man and consented to give his daughter to him, the young brave would start his courtship. He would use his flute to play courting songs while the woman was inside her teepee. Often this would go on all night. Each brave had his own song that he would play for a woman, and it was usually a special song played only for her. If the woman liked the young man, she would prepare a special blend of tea. We call this blend our Indian Love Tea. She would then come out of her teepee to the sound of the music and offer the young brave a cup of tea, a sign of mutual admiration.

With a mellow ginger flavor, our Indian Love Tea is a rich blend of natural herbs, including damiana, ginseng root, and muira puama. It is excellent for overall health and contains natural stimulants, and is caffeine and gluten free.
